Expanded Sales with Materials That Leverage Design and Processing

The Japanese companies that manufacture and wholesale textiles are intensifying efforts to accelerate exports to the European and American markets. Each of these companies has proactively exhibited at European textiles trade fairs for roughly the last five years. Expectations have grown for these materials, which boast various designs and had previously been absent from the European market, while the functionality unique to the Japanese stock was praised and the products established themselves. With this sense of expectation in the market, there was a palpable desire at the autumn/winter 2018-19 Première Vision, for the increased sale of these materials which are clearly individualised and differentiated, while exploiting design and processing technology.

Expanded design variation

Based on such a response to date, these companies’ offerings for next autumn-winter for the European and American markets make wider use of materials that focus on original Japanese design techniques, such as Jacquard, pleats, flocking and foil.

The company offers jerseys with a range of expressions, from Jacquard with a three-dimensional polyester double-knit with alternating messy and patterned design, and distressed-denim-like cotton and silk, to polyester that uses lame thread such that the view of the colour changes with the angle it is viewed at, and circular knitted cotton that is translucent thanks to dual-layered Jacquard.

The total number of jerseys presented, including wool and nylon ripple, fleece-lined meaty polyester stretch and other warm materials numbered around 150.

Uni Textile
Yarn-dyed, patterned cut Jacquard from cotton

As well as developing light, lustrous, high-grade materials using lame and split yarn, the company has expanded the materials for the men’s line via cotton Jacquard. Uni Textile is increasing the variation in its offerings, including pleated designs cut to 1.5 metres, and is fully engaged in presenting products for the overseas market.
