NATURAL TASTY
Surface interest will become even more important. Producers are increasing the sense of presence and power of their materials by making their textures visible. Even materials that tend to be flat are being endowed with increased expressiveness by giving them light wrinkles, or hairiness, or new colours through the use of halation. This is a continuation of the trend toward unevenness that we saw with all the textiles using crepes and waves during the spring/summer season; however, many of the autumn/winter items feature roundish bases, and with added bumps and circles, products will likely have an overall round feel to them.

We will move from fibrous materials like hemp that were characteristic of the spring/summer 2017 season toward hairy textures as we move into autumn/winter. There are going to be a lot of items that pay mind to balancing weight and bulkiness and thus feature wool atop of grid bases featuring mesh or gauze weaves. Pay attention to velvet and wavy yet hairy items.
